Child Protection at Calvary

Paperwork which must be on file in the church office before being considered an approved adult:

Adult Volunteers need:

*Adult volunteers must have a relationship with Calvary for a minimum of 6 months prior to being permitted to work with children.

1. A copy of an approved Criminal Record Check Report from the PA State Police.

2. A copy of PA Child Abuse History Certification from the Department of Human Services

3. If you have lived in PA for the past 10 years: A signed disclosure statement swearing you aren’t disqualifed from service based on a conviction of an offense under s6344. OR

If you haven’t lived in PA for the last 10 years:  Fingerprint based federal criminal history (FBI) submitted throught the PA state police

4. A signed copy of the Calvary Lutheran Church Child Protection Policy.

5. We strongly suggest but do not require a printed certificate after completion of Mandated Reporter training (see below for more info)


All Paid Staff Need:

Online Training Options for Mandated Reporters

*ONE of the two following options are mandatory for paid staff, optional but strongly recommended for volunteers

https://www.reportabusepa.pitt.edu/  This is a 3 hour click through course that you can save your progress and you can return to.  Click the “Don’t have an account” button to set up an account and then you can log in.  It provides a certificate at the end which should be shared with the church office.

https://pafsa.org/mandated-reporter-training/   This is a live zoom training.  Scroll down to Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and then click on upcoming virtual sessions.   A certificate of completion needs to be obtained and shared with the church office.
